First
Spring
I wanted the final result to feel like 'a fresh Spring breath'. Conveying a feeling of beautiful movement, as well as stillness.
First Spring was By The Creator's first collection, released in 2020. This project combined a unique set of skills, techniques, and perseverance.

The overall aesthetic for the campaign was to feel like an extension of the garments themselves; Cool & calm.
I designed the garments in First Spring intentionally with muted 'natural' tones pulling inspiration from ancient traditional materials like burlap and hemp, while creating with 100% cotton.

Process

1.
I originally looked to scout a location that would bring the collection to life, unsuccessful; I began to experiment with ways that I could create a one-of-a-kind space.

3.
Utilising a room with high ceilings, an abundance of natural light, and terracotta tiles as my canvas, I began to experiment and sculpt. With the use of lightweight polystyrene, gyprock, and plaster, I taught myself the basics of plastering and faux masonry.
2.
I plastered and painted the floors and newly rendered prop archways and staircases to match the exact colour of the walls to create a space that felt quite surreal.

4.

An unaccounted number of hours went into the preparation of First Spring to create the final result.
