DANCING DAUGHTER
The Author of Dancing Daughter, Susan Lambert, wanted this artwork to feel like a memory. Almost as if it was a sketch in a journal, capturing a beautiful memory, frozen in time. When illustrating this piece, I referenced multiple photographs of Susan's father, as well as conversing with Susan for helpful information on his silhouette, build and mannerisms to truly do her memory and work justice.

Dancing Daughter is a raw and confronting personal story of a young girl growing up amidst the rigours of family violence. It is the voice of both a child and an adult. It is the transformation from a wounded child to a healed adult. It is a story of hope, healing and renewal as this young girl finds a way to silence that discordant melody and choreograph a new dance for herself. A dance of courage, faith and forgiveness.
